12d Model軟體，可以從Auto CAD中讀入三維地形圖，也可直接讀取原始測繪點數據。
以從AutoCAD讀入＊．DWG檔為例，讀入的資料將按層分開並賦予相應層名作為模組名。
讀入原始地形圖之前，應在Auto CAD程式裏，仔細檢查各地形線的高程有無明顯錯誤
並做適當修改。當然，也可在原始地形資料讀入之後，用12d MODEL的編輯功能修改。
12d Model可以對三角網進行方向分析、坡度分析、表面積分析、流向箭頭及脊穀
分析等，還可沿任意直線或曲線對地形作剖面。
